Leadership

Troop 420 is a boy-run troop and operates by the patrol method. The Patrol Leader’s Council (PLC), with oversight from the Scoutmaster and Troop Committee, plan and implement the troop’s activities, including our weekly troop meetings, monthly campouts, and our annual summer camp.

Our adult leaders are trained in Scouting policies, training skills and safety appropriate to, or exceeding the requirements for their positions and for our outings.

Parent Participation

Troop 420 enjoys a strong parental base. In addition to adult leadership and Troop Committee positions, we have many parents who help with special projects. Our Troop Committee meets monthly to discuss ongoing troop issues and to ensure the troop’s safety and its success.

Camping and other Outings

Troop 420 enjoyed plenty of outdoor activities and campouts throughout the year.  The scouts had 9 different opportunities to go camping totaling 25 nights.  We also had several other troop activities including a day trip to Daytona International Speedway, paddle boarding and Indian River State College planetarium to name a few.

Fundraisers

Paying your own way is a fundamental principle of the Boy Scouts of America and Troop 420. For this reason our Troop supports the scouts in many fundraising opportunities and encourages each scout to earn all of his own funds for scouting.  This core belief instilled at a young age teaches the scouts that if you want something, you have to earn it.  Troop 420 has many ongoing fundraisers such as the monthly Elks Breakfast and Troop Cookbook Sales.  We also hold an annual 10k, 5k and Family fun run in March for the scouts to earn money for summercamp and also so they can help promote to the community the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
